Whilst attending Kings College University of London, from which he is a double graduate, including European languages, Mark was Tour Manager for various British Holiday Companies travelling throughout Europe.

Upon graduation, Mark started a career in the travel industry and quickly rose to the position of Operations Manager for Saga Holidays UK Limited. He was subsequently appointed Commercial Director of Rank Education in England and was the pre-eminent provider of educational travel throughout Europe. Mark is now the Principal of Golden Compass Limited, which operates Odyssey educational travel programs into Britain and Europe. Mark is an avid European historian and is a well informed and sometimes controversial speaker.
